    MELGES 32 LIGHT HEADSAIL

    I = 40.86
    J = 10.7

    With a lower thread count when compared to the Medium or Heavy jibs, the Light jib can be carried in up to 10 knots for a combination of finesse and speed that is needed for light air racing.

    MELGES 32 MEDIUM HEADSAIL

    I = 40.86
    J = 10.7

    This sail features a sail area that is similar to the Light Jib but has a higher thread count for increased durability and a flatter, more draft forward, shape for better performance in stronger wind. Designed for a breeze range of 6-20 knots, this sail is ultra fast in both flat water and big wave venues. The MC-4 has been made slightly larger than the previous MC-3 in girths and now has a larger usable overlap with the LC-3 Jib and a bit more punch in the sloppy conditions.

    MELGES 32 MEDIUM/HEAVY HEADSAIL

    I = 40.86
    J = 10.7

    Designed to accommodate a high wind velocity venue, the MC-1 is based on the medium jib mold with slightly reduced miter depth and luff curve. The lower girths are slightly reduced (same 3D flying girth as MC-3) with the top girth increased to promote better twist distribution. Designed for a breeze range of 14 to 24 knots, this sail is great in flat water or big wave venues and will be a must-have for San Francisco-type conditions.

    MELGES 32 HEAVY HEADSAIL

    I = 40.86
    J = 10.7

    When the breeze is really howling, and you need to reduce sail area to keep the boat on its feet, our heavy jib is the answer. This sail features a smaller sail area than the Light or Medium jibs, yet it still provides the performance and handling you need in One-Design racing.

    A3 (Formerly Max-Runner Code 2A-3)
    Sail Area - 1,337 sq feet

    Cloth Choices:
    » AirX 650 or Contender Superkote

    » Contender Dynakote

    Note: numbers/graphics will not stick to Dynakote sail cloth.

    The A3 is our largest spinnaker in terms of sail area and is the ideal selection for when sailing in the dead down wind mode. Built to the maximum mid-girth, this sail is perfect for the 7-13 wind range in either flat or choppy conditions.

    A2 (Formerly AP Runner/Reacher Code 2A)
    Sail Area - 1,302 sq feet

    Cloth Choices:
    »
    AirX 650 or Contender Superkote
    » Contender Dynakote

    Note:
    numbers/graphics will not stick to Dynakote sail cloth.

    With a flatter profile and smaller sail area than the A3, this sail performs very well in lighter conditions or when the 32 wants to get up and plane. Designed and geared for a more apparent wind forward position, the A2 is simply the best performing spinnaker on the market. Ideal for wind ranges 4-8 and 13-25.

    * Melges 32 Class Rule allow for 2 spinnakers to be carried on the boat while racing. North Sails recommends the A3 and A2 as the primary spinnakers to be used for One Design Racing.

    A1 (Formerly Small Reacher 1A/3A)
    Sail Area - 1,184 sq feet

    Cloth Choices:
    »
    AirX 650 or Contender Superkote
    » Contender Dynakote

    Note: numbers/graphics will not stick to Dynakote sail cloth.

    This sail was originally used for light/heavy air conditions in Melges 32 racing, but was found to be a bit small for buoy and One Design Racing. This sail is ideal when the breeze is very light, or when the breeze is really pumping and extra stability and control are desired.
