    Choice of:

    NW-1 Mainsail

    3DL 860 Carbon/Aramid 16800 DPI

The NW basic design has been used to win every Worlds, since the 2nd Farr 40 world championship held in Newport, Rhode Island. This incredibly successful sail has worked when we've used Aramid, PBO and now Carbon/Aramid blend.

    NWC-1 All-Carbon Mainsail
    3DL 800 Carbon 16800 DPI

Using the North priority design software we started with the NW-07 mainsail and worked on duplicating an all carbon version of the sail. The sail will have more control of head stay sag as the mainsheet load is transferred directly to the boat through the 100% carbon yarns.

    NWC-2 All-Carbon Mainsail
    3DL 800 Carbon 14700 DPI

Starting with the NWC-1 mainsail design and dropping the DPI down one step, we feel the NWC-2 will have more flexibility through the wind ranges by using a higher percentage of the total strength of the 100% carbon yarn membrane.

    LC-1 Light Jib
    3DL 800 Carbon 12600 DPI
    Thin Films

100% Carbon sail, a development of our very successful LB mold. Construction and “bag” weight lighter than previous jib designs.

The light jib was re-sized after the 2007 Danish Worlds to allow sheeting with tighter inhaul.

    DESIGNED WIND RANGE:
    0 - 8 knots true wind speed

    © North Sails

    LMC-1 Light/Medium Jib

    3DL Carbon 800 12600 DPI
    Thin Films

The LMC-1 all-carbon sail was used effectively by Nanoq in the 2008 Farr 40 Worlds to place 4th overall. The LMC-1 sets up flatter in the head and fuller in the bottom forward quarter than the standard LC-1. The LMC-1 is recommended for use in flatter water environments to replace the LC-1.

    DESIGNED WIND RANGE:
6 -11 knots true wind speed

    MC-1 Medium Jib

    3DL 800 Carbon 16800 DPI
    Thin Films

The MC-1 is a design progression from the MC-07. The design has slightly less vertical camber and less entry than it’s predecessor. This design was used to win the 2007 Worlds. This is the recommended class medium jib.

The medium jib was re-sized after the 2007 Danish Worlds to allow sheeting with tighter inhaul.

    DESIGNED WIND RANGE:
8 -17 knots true wind speed
    _________________________________________________________________________________

© North SailsHeavy Jibs - Choice of:

    HC-2 Heavy Jib
    3DL 800 Carbon 19600 DPI

The HC-2 jib has been modified after the 2009 Worlds in Porto Cervo, Italy to increase entry angle down low and twist up high.

    DESIGNED WIND RANGE:
    17 - 23 knots true wind speed
    _________________________________________________________________________________

    HWJ-1 Heavy Weather

Aramid (per Class Rule) 23800 DPI
(Qualifies as an ORC #4. Must have on board for each sanctioned regatta)

The HWJ-1 has been designed (after the 2008 Worlds in Miami, FL) with an increased overall entry angle and bottom quarter depth to allow a wider steering groove.

    SPECIFICATIONS:
Luff Grommets (Category 4 Safety Rule)
    Tell Tale Window NOT Recommended

    DESIGNED WIND RANGE:
    22+ knots true wind speed

    DOWNWIND SAILS

The class has decided to go with three Masthead Spinnakers. Two at 30 grams and one at 40 grams. This permits the boat to carry a "family" of MH spinnakers that have an effective range through all the racing conditions. One Fractional Spinnaker must also be carried onboard.

The 1.5S is more of a hybrid designed in between the 1S and the 2S. It is made with 30 gram (0.5 oz cloth), although some boats prefer this design as their 40 gram spinnaker. The 1S is strictly a light air VMG style sail and is also made with 30 gram fabric. Finally, all will utilize a large 2S, with a rule weight of 40 gram (sailmakers 0.7oz.) A fourth spinnaker will be carried onboard -- a fractional sail that fits the old measurement rule. We recommend the current 4S 40 gram sail that will only be used in very extreme conditions.

All North spinnakers are equipped with the following:

    FEATURES:
» High Modulus Luff and Leech Cord
    » Inked on Sail Numbers
    » Turtle Bag
